Happy 4th Birthday Hugo!
For all of those first time readers, Hugo is the little boy that I nanny for during the week. Hugo, his sister Claire and I spent a little over a month doing fire themed crafts for his birthday. It was totally awesome. Most of our craft supplies came, as usual, from Urban Source. The results are absolutely ON FIRE, if I do say so myself.

Claire was doing a project for school and taking pictures of different objects around the neighborhood, so I got Hugo to participate my taking pictures of fire hydrants and signs which we later turned into a poster and decorated. |

Beebop the Firehouse Clown! |
His birthday party was this past Saturday. Hilariously enough, this was the only day that Hugo did NOT want to wear his fireman suite, so I sadly have to deprive you all of a picture of him wearing it. None the less, the fireman theme was a complete success, with many kids arriving fully suited. I was dressed as a fireman clown, and started the party off with some face painting that ranged from flowers, to fireballs, to the Death Star. We then moved onto playing pin the tail on Pete the Firehouse dog (drawn by Claire herself). I did a music show performance midway, making sure to include the song that Hugo and I wrote. It goes a little something like this:
There's trouble in the city and we don't know what to do!
Who we gonna call?
Who? Who?
The fireman!! Weeeoooo Weeeeooooo!
(You then repeat the chorus, with each kid picking a different type of hero, and all making the sound effect that goes along with it. Spiderman, Batman, Ghostbusters...let's just say there are lots of people you can call!)
We sang happy birthday to Hugo while he blew out the candles on his flaming fire ball cupcakes (I wish I had a picture, Emily his mom did a fantastic job on them). And we ended the party with the fireball pinata. I think we did the right amount of layers on it, because it didn't take too long before the goody bags came flying out. The kids loved it!
Hugo was pretty pleased with the Super Soaker fire hose I got for him. I thought it was a pretty great alternative to a water gun. Emily their mom said they tried it out the following day and it worked super soaker well. When asked later on what his favorite part of the party was, his answer was a no brainer. "The presents," he said.
