Luke and I just had our first Jedi training party this past Saturday and it couldn't have gone better unless we'd had a real starship to host it on. I was so impressed with the facilities at the Oakridge/Marpole community centre, I will definately be recommending it to parents in the future. We had full access to the gym and all the equipment. Seeing the sense of accomplishment on their little faces as they scaled the obstacle course was my favorite part of the party for sure. It was tense, and not at all easy for such little ones it was even a little bit dangerous! But comfortably dangerous of course, no Jedi lawsuits needed thank you very much! The music really set the scene, and all the parents helping out was awesome too. A true team effort by a the coalition forces.
These kids were so great, we were even able to line them up and get them to wash their hands before cake! (The kids and I decided that we should call it a Jedi sink and Jedi soap to maintain the theme). Then the kids got to make their own sundaes (great idea Jocelyn/Jedi mom!) - and Luke and I got to thinking about ice cream making parties and what a blast that would be.
The finale with Darth Vader entering to test the young padawans on their newly acquired light saber skills was the perfect way to end the party (excellent training Jedi Master Luke! And thanks to the dad Lorne for your excellent Darth rendition). I am now looking into getting a Darth costume to add to our tickle trunk, and perhaps lend out to parents for future Jedi parties. I mean, what is Jedi training without really coming face to face with the dark side, and being able to defeat it!
This party was so much fun, I ended up smiling for the whole day after. Thanks again to the family for making us a part of your special day, may the force be with you and Happy Valentines day!
Brenna, you and Luke (perfect name, right?!) were the best Jedi Masters. The Star Wars party was the most fun our entire family has ever had. Both boys LOVED every minute of it. Thank you again for all your great ideas and enthusiasm with planning this great fete.
