A bunch of the Katimavik volunteers came and got their faces painted! |
Happy Earth Day!
We were so lucky to be invited to face paint at the Wildlife Rescue annual family event in Burnaby, at the Bird Sanctuary/Rowing club. Needless to say, we painted a lot of animals, butterflies and flowers! All in celebration of Mother Earth and her bounty.
I was accompanied to the event by Mimi le Bee, dressed up as mother Earth herself. Or, as one child hilariously put it, "Look mom, it's God!"
So Mother Nature and myself, dressed as a mermaid, not only did some earthy face painting, but we also had time to take a walk around the sanctuary. The rich smell of soil, mosses, sweet barks and budding flowers was enough to make me want to move back to Vancouver Island. Boy oh boy do I love this Earth! Nature is the bomb!
As if that wasn't enough, lunch was one of the yummiest things I have eaten in a long long time. The food caravan, La Bohème was selling their delicious buckwheat crepes at the event, and I had two. I ordered the cheese and greens, packed with mozzarella, mixed greens including nice chunks of kale, tomatoes, tomato sauce and vinagrette. The food was sumptuous, and their caravan was enchanting. I love La Bohème!
I look forward to visiting them at Trout Lake on Saturday mornings, and at the farmers market in Kitsilano.
Until next time,
Love your Earth, and hug a tree!
Peace and Love,
Beebop
