Kids Market Weekend 2

Another awesome and insane weekend at the Granville Island Kids Market. We were downstairs next to the puppet shop for both Saturday and Sunday and it was a totally different experience! From the kids screaming in the adventure play center behind us to the entire families that all got their faces painted, the energy was up and we fed off it. We did our best work ever, and gave out tons of business cards (summer here we come!). But enough writing, the pictures speak for themselves... (and through my effective and often witty comments, I will clarify...)

Kitty Man, so hot right now.

Saturday was crazy busy, non stop painting!

Kids Market Weekend

I can't believe how rad this weekend was! So many awesome and crazy face paint designs, the creativity was out of control! This was Luke's first time doing nothing but face paint and while he has been accompanying me to parties for the past few months, parties consist only partly of face painting, and don't really allow you to hone your skills like hours of non stop kid after kid after kid painting does.
Luke's first attempt at a unicorn went in a totally new direction! I predict all the kids will be wanting sea unicorns soon!
Our set up at the Kids Market, thanks Loreto!

I was so happy to see Luke's personal style come out in everything from his Spiderman to his butterfly. His unique and original eye designs were something I never expected, and I can't wait to see more of them.
A classic design, done better than the example by Luke!

Masquerade Parrot by Luke

Luke in his element (this little boy was so pleased!)

Pink Butterfly done with the undeniable Luke flair.

She was admiring the design Luke had done on himself for the day, and he made her one of her own.

Love it!

Today was our second day in our two week spring break Kids Market face painting bonanza (WOOT!) and was also totally kickin', due in no small part to our new fairy princess Amira (Amira meaning Princess in arabic, how perfect is that?!). Donning her wings, she created some amazing original designs and it was only her first day! We are so excited to have her on board. She is going to be joining us for the next two weekends at the Kids Market and shadowing parties to get her ready for summer!

Amira!!!!!!!!!!!
Amira's first go, amazing eh!?
Gorgeous Fairy

I was so glad to get back into the swing of it this weekend, face painting being one of my favorite parts of the job! Here are some of my favorite designs from the past two days and a picture of me in my St.Patties deedly bobbers!
To quote a kid today "Those are silly on your head!"

Red tiara! Do you think she likes it?
Unicorn design! Tres belle, non?

Happy St. Patties!

So I decided to wear green today and tomorrow, tomorrow being the actual St. Patricks day but today being a good day to get amped about it. I figure that since Celtic Fest is going on from today until Sunday, other people may be doing the same and we should really just make a habit of wearing mostly green all through March. Green is such a great colour! Makes you think of plants, aliens and reptiles, all awesome things.

In honor of tomorrows date I made shamrock balloon animals today which I think came out pretty well!  (See above..those are shamrocks!)
Sunday I am going to be doing some face painting at the St. Patties day parade downtown. Just look for the girl with the shamrock deedly-bobbers and the massive gold petticoat (on of my prize possessions, obviously).  I'm curious about what it's going to be like down at the parade because there wasn't one last year as far as I know, and I missed the one the year before that (busy mob of jolly irish people most likely!). I'll also be at the Granville Island Kids Market with Luke for a bit, face painting the wee ones with rainbows and pots of gold. St. Patties is a great way to start our two week stint face painting there, now I just need to find a leprechaun hat for Luke to go with my festive deedly-bobbers (deedly-bobbers being a real Irish term, of course). Here's wishing you all a green and great St. Patricks day, Eireann go Brach!

Photoshoot Phun!

Thanks so much to Camilla for the amazing job she did today on the photo shoot for our website! Luke and I can't wait to see the final products.
This is poised to be a very important month for Party Kids as a business. We will be face painting for the entire two weeks of spring break at the Granville Island kids market, having fun and marketing for our upcoming summer season. With new face paint designs, business cards, and the addition of Luke to the business, I simply cannot wait!

I am also excited to announce that I will now be playing my guitar at kids events! For the past two years I have been performing at the Vancouver Yule Ball with fellow band mate Elektra Torgersen-Williams in our band Lunacoustic. While we have an awesome assortment of original Harry Potter songs, I still need to know more classics (then ants go marching, a song guaranteed to get stuck in your head!).I am currently working on my kid song repertoire  and can't wait for my first performance. There are so many amazing children's musicians in Vancouver and I am really inspired to join them. Mostly, because it looks like so much fun!
