Space Party!

This weekend Amira and I did our first Space Adventure Party, and it was a BLAST!
We were space travelers from the planet Blarg, who travel all over the universe attending awesome kids birthday parties.
The party started with a space visor craft, with tons of sparkly goodies including a box of recycled metallic materials from Urban Source. The we did face painting, games. We ended the party with a Rocket Ship pinata and balloon space blasters made from neon balloons (yay neon!).
It was so much fun, I can't wait for the next one!

Spring Break 2012 Facepainting- March 12th and 13th

Monday and Tuesday at the Kids Market can be summed up easily: SO MANY UNICORNS!! Nothing could bring me more joy than painting these celestial beings. Remember readers, loving unicorns will keep you young!

This little girl had a heart tattoo on her head, so this became a unicorn in love.
Beautiful Butterfly by Me
Unicorn under the silver moon, this scene was really fun to create! The little girl requested that I use ALL the sparkles, and I was happy to oblige!

Voyage to Space with Claire and Hugo!

In the weeks leading up to Spring Break, Claire and Hugo and I had been working on gear and plans for our rocket adventure into space. With materials mostly supplied by Urban Source on Main street (one of Hugo's favorite places to go) the results were absolutely other worldly. We made a layout of the galaxy, helmets, a rocket ship plan and a REAL rocket ship, named SPARKY.
The kids managed to take the ship out for a spin, but in a disastrous turn of events Claire and Hugo became stranded on an alien planet. Luckily, they managed to scrounge up the supplies they needed to fix the ship, and with a little help from a alien (played by myself) the repairs were a success (and in the process I managed to develop an alien language which I was required to speak in for the better part of an hour..I would describe it as some sort of combination between robot talk, kitty mews and french). One final note on the subject, Space Adventures RULE!
The galaxy looks fun, if not rather hazardous at times. Looking forward to visiting the hummus planet that Hugo added near the top of the rocket ship!
SPARKY 1 rocket ship plans
Monkey came too, an old tea box served well as a helmet for this guy!
Rocket ship!
Adorable Rocketeers safe and sound on home planet, whew!
In other Claire and Hugo Funtime News, face painting was a GO! These kids love getting their faces painted (which makes me an excellent fit as their nanny), and the only trade off is that I let them paint my face in return.
BATMAN!
Butterfly Claire
Too cute!
My wonderful face painting done by Claire (she is really getting good with her shapes and swirls!)

Until next time!

Spring Break 2012 Facepainting- March 10th and 11th

The Party Kids are back at the Kids Market on Granville Island for spring break, come on down and get your face painted!

Nicholas Frenette, the artist himself!
After not being at the Kids Market for a few months, it is so nice to be back and to see all the wonderful kids market staff. It feels like coming home; fondly familiar and wonderfully cozy We had many lovely and adorable customers over the past two days and that's just the beginning. As usual, we were getting great ideas from the kids on what they wanted to have painted on their faces. A spy, angels, a clown face (to match my own!) and a half wolf half robot to name a few. Enjoy! (Sorry the images are so small!)
